What a year, what a show! The 33rd Annual San Francisco Fall Antiques Show
presented the best art and antiques dealers from around the world with a “Rush
of Gold” theme. Presenting Sponsors this year included Brooks Brothers, Luxe Interiors + Design, PURE Insurance and Sotheby’s International Realty.
Guests entered Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason into a
massive digital video installation created by the architecture firm, Ike Kligerman Barkley. Slow-motion
goldfish, gold flakes, Champagne bubbles and the gears of a 19th
century skeleton clock filled six 20 foot tall screens. The effect was
mesmerizing, unexpected and perfectly captured the grandeur of gold.
Once inside guests had rows of beauty to take in (and purchase). Paintings, drawings, furniture, decorative arts, rare books, silver, jewelry, rugs and textiles from across the centuries and around the world.

The Show Exhibition focused on
the gold rush era and showcased
beautiful and historic pieces from this period, including pieces from the
recently found “Saddle Ridge Hoard” and a 75 ounce California gold nugget, just discovered in
July on loan from Kagins and pieces
on loan from Shreve & Co. and
the Society of California Pioneers. A
series of captivating photographs by renowned photographer Fred Lyon focused on San Francisco a century after the Gold Rush-and looked at the city that grew out of this
era.
